Negotiations for a tax amnesty holiday on funds corporations hold over seas fell apart last week.
A large number of tech companies keep huge balances of cash in the countries where it was earned deferring paying US tax on it. Our astonomically high corporate tax rate relative to the rest of the developed world keeps them from re-patriating this money and putting much needed capital to work here in the United States.
Our corprate tax rate gives provides them with incentive to build factories and invest in R&D overseas... or anywhere but here...... Why is our government so short sighted?
